Hello Current & Future Musicians, My name is Verna. After decades of experience, I'm still enthusiastic about teaching Piano. I've taught (and also trained teachers) in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Berkeley, where I opened the Verna Winters Studio for the Performing Arts in 1977. My training reaches back to Olga Samaroff Stokowski. who founded the Piano department at Julliard, and also taught at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music. In addition to academics, I also have an extensive background in theatre, voice, dance, and body mechanics. My first experience with Piano started at age 3, after I begged for lessons. My students have ranged in age from 5 to 75, and are first-day beginners to highly advanced. I specialize in classical music, and teach classical technique (the best) for all styles. Lessons include music reading, writing, theory, and even singing and composition for those who wish. Lessons are on a Baldwin grand piano, in a very pleasant setting surrounded by organic gardens. In addition to private lessons, group lessons and coaching are available, such as parent-child, classmates, musical show direction. Ask about pricing for groups and travel time. I encourage you to get the professional lessons you always wanted. Come have some serious fun, while we work on your process and your goals,

Donna 2 years agoVerna W is a multi-talented teacher, offering instruction in voice, piano and dramatic arts. She has taught piano to my two daughters for nine years. She tailors the curriculum to each child's interests and abilities, and my children have truly blossomed with her as their teacher. My younger daughter is learning a classical repertoire, which is her preference, with a few additional, more popular pieces. My older daughter loves and excels at musical theory, and has been able to develop her interest with Verna's guidance. In addition to piano instruction, Verna coached my older daughter to help her prepare for her school musical.
